Giving Thanks

  • Definition of a London Thanksgiving: happening on a Sunday, in a flat belonging to a French girl, with boxed potatoes and a turkey cooked by a Canadian.  Result: pretty darn good alternative.  Minus the potential for E. coli as seen in the above picture.  Apparently Canadians prefer their turkey served rare.  Good to know.
  • Thanksgiving bonus: visit from a DC bestie, Mr. Will.  It's pretty nice to have a little piece of my second home here in London.  Although he is too cool to read my blog, I am going to call him out anyway.  Thanks for flying all the way out here or something...
  • Observing a family of American tourists wearing Packers jerseys in Covent Garden elicits the following feelings: embarrassment (for them), embarrassment (for me and my fellow London Amurcans), more-than-slight twinge of sadness at missing home.  Just seems mildly sacrilegious to spend the day operating as usual.
  • In response to the above sacrilege, Mr. Will and I will be attending our 3rd Fauxgiving this evening.  At a pub.  With many Brits in attendance.  Fingers crossed that irony will not be the only delicious thing to enjoy.

  1. Is it only embarrassing because you were embarrassed when you wore your Texas fantasy football jersey and they laughed at you?

Was the turkey underdone because you cooked it?
